Small dogs often have strong opinions about where they sleep. Watch how your dog likes to lie, then pick a bed that suits them. Here's a quick guide.
First, measure
Measure your dog lying in their usual sleeping position, nose to tail, and add about 10–15 cm. Curlers can have a smaller round bed. Sprawlers need a longer one. Every bed we sell lists its size on the product page.
The curler: donut and round beds
If your dog sleeps in a tight ball, a round bed with raised sides lets them rest their chin and snuggle in. Try the Snooze Donut or the round Froggy frog bed.
The burrower: covered dens and caves
Dogs who dig under blankets often love a bed with a roof. A covered bed gives them a cosy hideaway:
- The Snug House: a plush little house with a removable cushion.
- The Jaws shark cave: a soft cave with plenty of character.
- The Teddy Den: deep, high sides with teddy ears.
- The Hideaway teepee: a canvas den that looks smart in the living room.
The leaner: bolster beds
Some dogs like to lean against something or rest their head on a raised edge. A rectangular bolster sofa bed gives them sides to lean on and space to stretch out.
Older or stiff dogs
For older dogs, a firm, supportive mattress such as the memory foam mattress is easier to get on and off. Small or older dogs who use the sofa may appreciate foam dog steps instead of jumping.
Where to put it
Choose a quiet, draught-free spot where your dog can still see you. Many dogs settle better with a bed in the living room and another in the bedroom.
