How to Dry a Muddy Dog Fast (and Keep Your Car and House Clean)

British dog walks come with mud for about eight months of the year. With a simple routine you can get from the field back to a clean dog in a few minutes, without wrecking the car or the carpets.

Step 1: Paws first, before the car

Most mud lives on the feet. Keep a Paw Plunger and a bottle of water in the boot. Splash of water, pop a paw in, gentle twist, and the mud comes off in seconds.

Step 2: A quick rub-down

A microfibre towel soaks up far more water than a normal bath towel. Our Mitt Towel has hand pockets so you can rub down legs and belly quickly.

Step 3: Robe on for the drive home

For really soggy days, a drying coat does the work while you drive. The Muck Robe wraps around your dog like a dressing gown and keeps soaking up water on the way home.

Step 4: Protect the car

A waterproof back-seat hammock or boot liner catches whatever's left, and you can just wipe it clean.

Step 5: Dried mud? Brush it out

If mud has dried on the coat, it often brushes out more easily than it washes out. A self-cleaning brush like the Fluff Buster makes it quick.

The five-minute kit

Paw cleaner, towel and lick mats come together in our Muddy Walk Kit, which saves £8.98 compared with buying them separately. Free UK delivery over £35.
